Tennessee-Florida is supposed to be one of the top rivalries in college football; recent history, however, says otherwise.
Although the all-time series record is a tight 21-19 in favor of Florida, the Gators have won 19 of the last 25 meetings and six straight. In those six wins, the Gators have outscored the Vols 180-83.
Since the Vols' last second win in 2004, the programs have gone in opposite directions. Florida has enjoyed the high point of their program's history winning 65 games, including two national championships. Tennessee has suffered through three head coaches, three losing seasons and only 43 wins during the six years.
On Saturday the Vols will look to end Florida's streak and make this series a rivalry again, as they head into the unfriendly confines of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium with the SEC's leading passing attack and their first 2-0 record since 2006. The Gators come in under a new coaching staff, running a new offense and defense and coming off their first shutout since 2006.
If the Vols want to end the streak, these are the enemies they must know.
